Box Score STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Marian University women's hockey team (8-8-1, 5-5-0 NCHA) hung tight with UW-Stevens Point for the first two periods but ultimately fell to the Pointers 4-0.
A late first period power play goal was all UW-Stevens Point could manage to sneak by sophomore goalie Lindsey Strainis as Strainis went on to save 22 of the first 23 shots sent her way. Despite being outshot through two periods, the Marian offense was able to hang with the Pointers but were unable to light the lamp.
In the third period the Pointers would score a pair of goals separated by 1:18 and added their second power play goal of the evening to set the final at 4-0.
Strainis (6-6-1) finished the game with 34 saves, while freshman Morgan Bolin and senior Rian Lennon each had a team-high four shots. In the faceoff circle, junior Paige Johnson won nine of the 15 faceoff battles she saw.
Marian hosts Alumni Weekend when they welcome St. Scholastica to Blue Line for a weekend series Jan. 27-28.
