Marian volleyball unable to complete come back at Dominican

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University women's volleyball (5-12, 1-5 NACC) forced a fourth set but fell to Dominican with set scores of 25-17, 25-11, 22-25 and 25-17.

The Sabre hung around in the opening set and only trailed 18-17 before the Stars closed out the set scoring the next six points.  Dominican also had a strong finish in the second set when they used a 14-1 run to take a commanding 2-0 sets lead.

The Stars jumped out to an 11-5 lead to open the third but the Sabres rallied using a 7-2 run later in the set.  Marian then used a four-point run at the end of the set to force a third set as MU was able to take advantage of four straight DU attacking errors.  Dominican started fast once again in the fourth scoring 15 of the first 19 points in the set as they were able to cruise to the win.

Freshman Jamie Schrauth hit .242 and had a team-high 11 kills to lead the offense, while senior Amber Baker had a double-double with 27 assists and a team-high 14 digs.  Sophomores Amber Yahr and Jenna Skroski each had a pair of service aces and 11 digs.

Marian returns home when they host Alverno Friday, Oct. 13 for a 7 p.m. first serve.
