Marian women's hockey drops opener at CUW

MEQUON, Wis. - Marian University women's hockey (0-5-0, 0-5-0 NCHA) skated with Concordia Wisconsin but a three-goal third period led the Falcons past the Sabres by a 3-1 final.

Freshman Calle Bye was the lone Sabre to find the back of the net when she scored at the 12:12 mark of the third period with an assist from senior Paige Johnson. The Falcons opened the scoring at the 1:52 mark of the third period with a short handed goal and added a goal six minutes later to take a multi-goal lead.

Up until the start of the third period, Marian had held CUW scoreless with junior Lindsey Strainis (0-5-0) making 21 saves in the opening periods.  Strainis would go on to finish the night with 32 stops.

Freshman Megan Cook had a team-high four shots, while sophomore Morgan Bolin sent three shots on frame.

Marian closes out the series tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. from Ozaukee Ice Arena.
