Lions earn split with Marian women's hockey

HANCOCK, Mich. - Marian University women's hockey (3-8-0, 3-5-0 NCHA) would only manage one goal falling to Finlandia 4-1 in the series finale.

Junior Hailey Miller would score the Sabre goal at the 16:28 mark of the second period, which cut the Marian deficit down to one at the time.  The goal was number three on the year for Miller and was assisted by sophomores Morgan Bolin and Ally Fox.

The Lions managed a pair of goals early in the second period, one on the power play, and used a pair of goals, one empty net, in the final 2:58 of the game to set the final at 4-1.

Marian would out shoot Finlandia 27-20 including a 12-6 margin the opening period.  Freshman Megan Cook led the MU offense with five shots on goal.  Junior Lindsey Strainis took the loss in goal but made 15 saves.

Marian closes out the first half of the season at home when they host UW-Eau Claire for a 5 p.m. puck drop Saturday, Dec. 9.
