MEQUON, Wis. - Marian University women's hockey (8-11-1, 5-8-0 NCHA) outshot Concordia Wisconsin 40-22 but couldn't find the back of the net in a 6-1 road loss.

The Falcons opened the scoring midway through the first period but the Sabres responded just 21 seconds later when sophomore Abbey Dokken lit the lamp for the fifth time this season.  Dokken was assisted by junior Ellie Deans but this would be all the Sabres could manage.

CUW retook the lead a little under three minutes later in the opening period as they went on to take game two of the season series.

The opening period saw the two teams each send nine shots on net, but Marian would outshoot the Falcons a combined 31-13 in the final two periods.  The Sabre power play went 0-5 in the loss.  Sophomore Lindsey Strainis (6-9-1) took the loss between the pipes making 14 saves.

Marian and CUW close out the season series tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 4, at 3 p.m. from Ozaukee Ice Arena.
