Box Score KENOSHA, Wis. - Marian Univerisity men's volleyball (6-10, 3-6 MCVL) couldn't find a groove and fell to No. 8 Carthage in straight sets with scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-12.
The Red Men were able to show their strength as their offense hit .361 for the match with a balanced offense that saw no attacker reach double-digit kills.
In the opening sets Marian was able to hang tight at the beginning of the set. The opener saw Marian trail 10-7 before Carthage was able to pull away with a 9-3 run, while the second set started with the Sabres leading 10-9 before another extended run allowed Carthage to pull away.
The final set of the night saw the Red Men strike early scoring 12 of the first 15 points of the match as they were able to cruise to the sweep.
Sophomore Jon Smallpage finished with a match-high 12 kills, while fellow sophomore Cullen Liberski dug up a match-high 10 attacks. Sophomore Joey Dittman assisted on 27 of the 29 Sabre kills with a service ace and four digs.
Marian closes out the weekend traveling to MSOE for a 2 p.m. first serve tomorrow, Saturday, March 4.
