Box Score 2 FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University softball (14-6, 2-2 NACC) couldn't find a groove offensively and were swept by UW-Oshkosh with final scores of 5-1 and 6-3.
UW-Oshkosh would start the day fast as they opened the game loading the bases. The Titans would only be able to push one across thanks to a double play from the Sabres where senior Charlotte Pegram showed off her arm by throwing out a runner at the plate after a catching a fly ball.
The Titans continued to push the pace offensively, however, as they extended their lead out to 4-0 after three innings.
Marian would eventually get on the board in the top of the sixth when senior Sara Terrian drove in sophomore Lindsey Strainis with a two-out single to right field. The Titans responded in the next half-inning, however, to set the final at 5-1.
Marian would only manage four hits in the loss with senior Shannon Huray (7-5) throwing a complete game but taking the loss in the circle.
The second game of the day saw the Sabres strike first for a pair of runs in the top of the third. The Sabres were able to take advantage of an error in the inning with freshman Ally Fox driving in senior Tiffani Castillo and freshman Courtney Makinen with a single. The lead wouldn't last, however, as UW-Oshkosh quickly knotted things at 2-2 in the next half-inning.
The Titans then took the lead for the first time in the game scoring four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Senior Nicole LaBeck would drive in freshman Gianna Esposito with a single in the top of the sixth, and MU was able to bring the tying run to the plate in the top of the seventh but couldn't complete the come back falling 6-3.
Fox finished with a multi-hit game going 2-4 with a run batted in, while freshman Paige Rauhut (6-1) struck out three Titans in her 5.1 innings of work taking the loss in the circle.
