Second period struggles cost Sabre women's hockey

Box Score

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Marian University women's hockey (3-10-0, 3-5-0 NCHA) had a tough second period falling to Hamline by a 9-2 final.

Marian scored the first goal of the game to take the early lead when sophomore Ally Fox netted her second goal of the game with an assist to fellow junior Morgan Bolin.  The Pipers answered, however, as they would score seven unanswered goals spanning the next 20 minutes of action.

Roles then reversed for the Sabres as Bolin tallied her fourth goal of the year at the 17:37 mark of the second period with an assist to Fox.

Junior Lindsey Strainis took the loss in net stopping 24 of the 28 shots she faced in 26:31 of action.  Freshman Lindsay Lewison made her first career appearance in goal with 21 saves in 25:42 of action.

Marian closes out the weekend against Saint Benedict at noon tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 6, at St. Paul, Minn.
