ST. PAUL, Minn. - Marian University women's hockey (4-10-0, 3-5-0 NCHA) bounced back to split the weekend defeating Saint Benedict 1-0 in non-conference action.

A day after making her first career appearance in goal for the Sabres, freshman Lindsay Lewison (1-0-0) got the nod for her first career start and was lights out.  Lewison stopped all 20 shots she faced and helped lead a penalty kill unit that held Saint Benedict scoreless on one man-advantage opportunity.  The Sabres went on to out shoot the Blazers 27-20 for the game with Marian recording 11 of their shots in the second period.

A late goal with under three minutes remaining in the first period from freshman Jamie Henrickson was all Marian would need offensively.  The goal was the first career tally for the freshman.  In the faceoff circle, senior Paige Johnson and junior Hailey Miller were dominant with Johnson going 11-2 and Miller recording a 9-2 record.

Freshman Katie Meierotto led the charge offensively with a game-high six shots, while junior Alexis Peterson added five shots on frame.

Marian takes a week off before closing out their non-conference schedule Wednesday, Jan. 17 against UW-Stevens Point at 8 p.m. from Blue Line Family Ice Center.
