FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's hockey (1-7-2, 1-4-2 NCHA) scored in every period as the Sabres defeated Finlandia in their series opener.

Marian wasted no time getting the offense started as the Sabres fired 15 shots in the opening frame.  Junior Morgan Bolin opened the scoring with the penalty kill unit on the ice with her first goal of the season.  She was assisted by senior Hailey Miller as Marian took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

After Finlandia knotted the game up at the 4:27 mark, the power play unit for the Sabres scored their first goal of the game.  Junior Ally Fox was able to light the lamp at the 8:54 mark with an assist to sophomore Maegan Shuck for what proved to be the game-winner.

The Fox from Shuck connection struck for a second time on the power play at the 5:21 mark of the third period to add to the lead.  Bolin then recorded her second goal of the game to close out the scoring with an empty net goal at the 18:49 mark, assist to senior Abbey Dokken.

The Marian power play finished 2-5 in the victory, while the penalty kill unit held the Lions scoreless on five opportunities.

The Sabres finished with a 40-18 advantage in shots led by a game-high six shots from Dokken.  In goal, senior Lindsey Strainis made 17 saves to earn the win.

The Sabres close out the series with Finlandia tomorrow, Saturday, December 1, with puck drop scheduled for 1 p.m.
