Eagles spoil Sabre women's basketball Senior Day

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University women's basketball (3-20, 1-17 NACC) fell to Edgewood by a 58-47 final in the final home game of the season.

The Sabres scored the first four points of the game but the Eagles rallied from the fast start to take an 18-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.  Edgewood managed to hold this considerable lead out to a 33-22 score with 5:52 left in the third quarter before the Sabres closed out the quarter with a 10-4 run to cut the deficit to 37-32.

Edgewood managed to hold off the Sabre momentum as they expanded on their lead to open the fourth quarter and cruised to the road win.

The Sabres closed out the game with a 41-40 advantage in rebounds but were outscored by the Edgewood bench by a 21-7 margin.

Junior Rachel Serchen continued her strong play of late scoring a game-high 16 points to go with nine rebounds.  Fellow junior Sarah Schultz also notched 11 points in the defeat.

Marian opens the final road trip of the season at Lakeland Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.
