Muskies start fast to defeat Sabre women's basketball

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Marian University women's basketball (3-21, 1-18 NACC) was swept in the season series against Lakeland falling to the Muskies 74-37 on the road.

The Muskies started the game fast shooting 17-30 (.567) from the field, while the Sabre offense struggled to find a rhythm only shooting 8-33 (.242) from the field.  The Sabres had a much better second half, especially on the defensive end, holding Lakeland to 13-33 (.394) shooting.  The Marian defense also was able to force 18 turnovers in the loss.

The best quarter for the Sabres came in the fourth quarter where they shot 5-13 (.385) and tied Lakeland 14-14.

Junior Rachel Serchen scored double-digit points for the sixth time in the past seven games with a team-high 12 points.  She also led the way with seven rebounds, while fellow junior Sarah Schultz scored seven points with six boards, five assists and three steals.

Marian closes out the 2017-18 season traveling to Aurora for a 4:15 p.m. start Saturday, February 17.
