FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's volleyball (6-6, 2-1 NACC) returned to NACC action defeating Illinois Tech in straight sets with scores of 25-14, 25-20, and 25-13.

The Sabre defense shined to open the match as the Sabres held IIT to a -.125 hitting percentage and only four kills in the first set.  Marian led 13-10 to open the match before they closed out the set with a 12-4 run.  The streak was started by four consecutive kills from the Sabres with three coming from sophomore Jamie Schrauth.  The second set was closer to start with the Sabres taking a 16-15 advantage before scoring five straight points to take a 21-15 lead.  This allowed Marian to cruise to the win, which was capped off by a kill from sophomore Jenna Moehn.

The Marian offense then dominated in the third hitting .524 with 12 kills and only one error to close out the match in straight sets.  The Sabres scored the first six points of the set to open and then had another strong finish closing the match with a 7-2 run.  

Schrauth once again paced the Sabres recording a match-high 11 kills off of a .222 hitting percentage.  At the net, Moehn finished with five kills on six attempts for an .833 hitting percentage and had four total blocks.  From the back row, junior Jenna Skroski had a match-high 11 digs to go with a pair of service aces.  Fellow junior Amber Yahr had another productive match with 25 assists to go with four service aces and eight digs.

Freshmen Hannah Walther and Alexis Bergmann each recorded their first-career kill in the victory.

The match-up was the first time the two squads have played each other in conference action. 

Marian travels to Benedictine Tuesday, Sept. 25 for a 7 p.m. first serve in NACC play.
