Sabre women's hockey falters in series finale against Northland

ASHLAND, Wis. - Marian University women's hockey (3-11-3, 2-6-2 NCHA) was shut out by Northland in the series finale by a 4-0 final.

The LumberJills needed only 1:35 to open the scoring and added a pair of goals in the second period to take a 3-0 lead into the final period.  It was there that Northland iced the game with an empty net goal to seal the 4-0 final.

Marian finished with a 31-23 advantage in shots sending 14 shots on goal in the opening period and outshooting the LumberJills 13-2 in the final period.  Senior Lindsey Strainis made 19 saves in goal for the Sabres, while sophomore Morgan Bolin had a game-high six shots on goal.

The Sabre power play unit went scoreless on five opportunities in the defeat.

Marian hits the road to take on St. Norbert Friday, January 25 for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
