No. 13/15 Sabre men's hockey suffers setback versus MSOE

Box Score

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's hockey (7-6-2, 5-3-0 NCHA) returned to NCHA action falling to MSOE 3-0 at home.

The Raiders would go on to score one goal in all three periods and the Sabre offense was unable to find the back of the net after a slow start.  MSOE jumped over the Sabres early taking a 14-5 advantage in shots along with a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.  Marian bounced back to outshoot the Raiders 12-10 in the second period before dominating the third period with a 14-4 advantage in shots.  The Sabres closed out the game with a 31-28 advantage in shots.

Junior Hunter Vorva took the loss in goal for the Sabres making 25 saves in the game.  The Sabre penalty kill was perfect on the day fighting off both Raider power play opportunities, but the Marian power play unit would also go scoreless on two opportunities.

Marian remains at home taking on St. Norbert Friday, January 11 at 7 p.m. from Blue Line Family Ice Center.
