Sabre women's hockey falls to Saint Benedict in overtime

 STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Marian University women's hockey (3-9-2, 2-4-2 NCHA) opened the second half of the season falling to Saint Benedict by a 2-1 final in overtime.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the opening period with the Blazers taking an early 13-8 advantage in shots.  The Blazers were able to end the defensive stalemate with a goal in the second period to end the defensive stalemate.  Needing a rally in the third period, senior Sheila Blower was able to light the lamp for the second time this season at the 9:44 mark.  The Sabres would tie the Blazers in shots in the final period at 7-7 heading into the final period where Saint Benedict was able to seal their victory at the 2:27 mark.

Saint Benedict finished with a 30-22 advantage in shots with senior Abbey Dokken leading the Sabres with four shots.  Senior Lindsey Strainis made 28 saves in goal for Marian.

Marian closes out the weekend taking on Saint Mary's (Minn.) at 5 p.m. from Stevens Point, Wis.
