Offensive outburst leads Marian women's volleyball to sweep at Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Marian University women's volleyball (6-18, 3-8 NACC) had one of their best offensive performances of late defeating Rockford with set scores of 25-20, 25-15, and 25-15.

The Sabres opened with 14 kills to only five errors for a .220 hitting percentage in the opening set.  The two squads battled out to a 20-20 draw late in the set before Marian scored the final five points of the set to take the opener.  The second set had a similar close start but a 10-3 run in the middle of the set allowed Marian to cruise to a 2-0 lead.

Marian had their best offensive performance of the day in the third set recording 16 kills with a .294 hitting percentage.  The Sabres had a meager 14-13 lead before pulling away late with an 11-2 run to close out the match.

Freshman Monica Dreifuerst produced her ninth double-double of the season with a match-high 14 kills to go with 10 digs.  Sophomore Brooklyn Taylor paced the Sabre back row with a match-high 19 digs.

Marian closes out their NACC schedule playing at Edgewood Wednesday, Oct. 30 for a 7 p.m. first serve.
