Marian women's hockey posts second straight shutout to defeat Aurora 1-0

Box Score

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's hockey (1-5-1, 0-3-1 NCHA) earned their first victory of the season defeating Aurora by a 1-0 final.

It was a defensive battle from start to finish but the Sabres were able to find the only goal in the non-conference game.  Aurora had outshot Marian by a 13-9 margin in both the first and second periods before the Sabres came alive in the third.  On a breakaway opportunity, senior Morgan Bolin was able to get a shot past the glove of the AU goalie for her fourth goal of the season with assists to junior Mary Clark and sophomore Abby Anderson.  The goal was her fourth of the season.  This goal stood up as the Marian defense held Aurora to only four shots in the third period with the Sabres sending eight shots on goal.

Bolin led the way with a game-high six shots, while freshman Brooke Anderson sent four shots on goal.

Senior Molly Gross (1-1-0) earned her first career victory in a big way stopping all 30 shots she faced.

Marian returns to action traveling to Finlandia for a 6:30 p.m. (CST) puck drop Saturday, December 7.
