Box Score SUPERIOR, Wis. - Marian University men's basketball (0-1, 0-0 NACC) fell to UW-Superior by a final of 60-55 to open the season.
The opening half set the tone for the entire game as the two squads went back-and-forth with the largest lead being only five points. The Yellow Jackets led for most of the first half with a three-pointer from junior Logan Hamilton tying the game at 27-27 heading to the half.
The competitive action continued to open the second half with neither team holding a lead larger than four points midway through the second period. The Yellow Jackets were able to build their lead out to six at 46-40 with 8:12 left to play and eventually grew that lead to eight at 53-45 with 3:14 left in the game.
This deficit proved to be too much as UW-Superior would go 5-6 from the charity stripe in the final 30 seconds to seal the win.
Marian outshot UW-Superior going 24-52 (.462) from the field led by junior Justin Wilson who produced a team-high 14 points. Hamilton along with junior DeAndre Ross each added 13 points.
Marian will next take on No. 12 Saint John's at 3 p.m. from Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium at UW-Superior.
