Box Score FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's basketball (7-16, 5-13 NACC) opened their final homestand of the season with a 91-83 win over Concordia Chicago.
The Marian offense shot the lights out in the opening half shooting 21-32 (.656) from the field including 6-12 (.500) from three-point range. After falling behind 22-19, the Sabres were able to produce a 20-4 run that gave Marian a 39-26 lead with 4:53 left in the half. The teams went back-and-forth the remainder of the half with Marian taking a 48-34 lead into the locker room.
The Cougars bounced back to open the second half using nine unanswered points to cut their deficit down to 48-43. Concordia Chicago managed to cut the deficit down to as little as one with 8:45 left to play but the Sabres were able to battle off the Cougars with an 11-2 run. Marian was then able to cruise to the victory building their lead to as large as 15 in the final minutes.
The Sabres finished shooting 36-65 (.554) and hit double-digit three-pointers for the seventh time this season.
Senior Tyrese Pinson led the Sabres with his first career triple-double scoring 18 points with 10 rebounds and 10 assists to go with four steals. Sophomore Tristan Van Ess shot 10-14 from the field in the victory finishing with a team-high 20 points. Fellow sophomore Caleb Martin also produced a double-double with 11 points to go with 10 rebounds.
Marian plays their final home game of the season hosting Aurora tomorrow, Thursday, February 14, at 7 p.m. in NACC action.
