FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's volleyball (6-9, 4-3 NACC) had a four-match win streak snapped by No. 14 MSOE with set scores of 26-24, 25-21, and 25-21.

The Sabre defense had a tough night as MSOE hit .366 for the match and hit .594 in the second set.  The Marian offense was able to keep pace hitting .375 in the opening set and .360 in the second set but a tough third set dropped their hitting percentage down to .273 for the match.

The first set was tight throughout with neither team managing a lead larger than four points.  The two squads found themselves tied at 22-22 late in the set with an MSOE service error and kill from junior Jacob DeGroot giving Marian a set-point opportunity.  An MSOE timeout, however, proved to be a momentum shifter as the Raiders rattled off three straight points to win the set.

The second set was similar with neither team leading by more than four once again, but a late 4-2 run at the end of the set allowed MSOE to take the set.  The Raiders were able to use a 9-4 run to open an 18-11 lead in the third set.  The Sabres were able to battle back with a 7-2 run to cut their deficit down to as little as three, but MSOE was able to fight off the momentum shift and take the match in straight sets.

Senior Jon Smallpage led the offense with a team-high 11 kills, while freshman Jacob Jurney hit .500 for the match chipping in five kills.  Senior Joey Dittman had a double-double in the defeat with a match-high 10 digs and 28 assists.

Marian remains at home to host Illinois Tech Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m. from Sadoff Gym to open the second half of the conference schedule.
