LISLE, Ill. - After a tough 8-0 loss in five innings in game one, Marian University softball (22-12, 14-6 NACC) salvaged a split winning game two 11-3.

The opener was all Benedictine as the Sabres would only manage three hits with the Eagles scoring in four of the five innings.

Marian bounced back in game two recording a season-high 17 hits en route to a split.  The Sabres opened with a pair of runs in the first inning before sophomores Peyton Loesch and Katy Croeker hit back-to-back home runs in the third to put MU ahead 5-0.  An RBI hit from junior Taylor Lauscher paired with a bases-loaded walk from Croeker allowed the Sabres to go ahead 7-0 in the fourth.

The Eagles answered with three runs in the bottom half of the fourth but the Sabres continued to hit the ball well in the final two innings.  Croeker along with freshmen Hannah Cozzi and Kira Hall-Risor were all able to drive in runs in the sixth.  Croeker closed out her monster game driving in another run in the seventh to set the final at 11-3.

Everyone in the Marian lineup recorded a hit in game two with seven multi-hit games.  Croeker closed out the game 3-for-4 with five driven in along with a walk and run scored.  Senior Lindsey Strainis would score three times with junior Ally Fox also scoring a pair of times.  Loesch had a strong game as well going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two driven in, and two walks.

Sophomore Myranda Schuttenhelm (10-4) went the distance allowing just five hits and three earned runs to earn the victory.

Marian closes out NACC play at Aurora Sunday, April 28 for a 2 p.m. twin bill.
