Sabre men's soccer falls at Benedictine 5-1

LISLE, Ill. - Marian University men's soccer (3-5-1, 0-2-0 NACC) fell on the road at Benedictine by a 5-1 final in NACC action.

The Marian defense was able to rebound after allowing a goal just 26 seconds in, but a slow end of the half allowed the Eagles to take a 3-0 lead at the break with a pair of goals in the final four minutes.  The Sabres were able to get on the board when senior Chris Nelson was able to redirect a Benedictine pass into the goal for his second goal of the year.  Benedictine responded less than a minute later to extend their lead back out to three and then closed out the scoring with a tally in teh72nd minute.

The Sabres finished with nine shots, five of which were on goal, led by freshman Walter Sebastian who had a pair of shots.  In goal, junior Cory Koehler (1-2-0) took the loss making seven saves, four of which came in the second half.

Marian returns home to take on Concordia Wisconsin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2 in NACC action.
