Box Score FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's hockey (3-11-1, 2-5-1 NCHA) tied the game in the third period but a later Trine goal gave the Thunder a 2-1 win.
The first period was a defensive battle that only saw a total of 10 shots. The Thunder would get on the board in the period at the 5:40 mark. Marian was able to pick it up in the second period but were unable to find an equalizer.
Then at the 3:07 mark, senior Morgan Bolin was once again able to cause a turnover deep in the Trine defensive zone and lit the lamp for the seventh time this season. The Sabres went scoreless on a pair of power plays shortly after as the game went down to the wire. The Thunder would put a rebound in the back of the net with just 25.4 seconds remaining to seal the sweep.
Marian finished with a 10-8 advantage in shots for the third period but trailed Trine 27-24 for the game. Bolin led Marian wiht a game-high eight shots, while freshman Briahna Bryant added four shots.
Senior Maggie Cusey (2-5-1) suffered the tough-luck defeat making 25 stops inclduing all 13 shots she saw in the second period.
Marian travels to Northland Friday, January 24 for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
