Marian women's soccer drops tight 2-1 game at CUW

MEQUON, Wis. - Marian University women's soccer (4-8-1, 4-5-0 NACC) hung around with Concordia Wisconsin who was unbeaten in NACC play but fell to the Falcons 2-1.

The Falcons were able to open the scoring quickly with a goal just 4:46 into the game.  Concordia Wisconsin was able to pad their lead in the 36th minute to take a 2-0 lead into the half.  The Sabres had a tough time in the opening stanza being outshot 17-2.

Marian was able to find their rhythm a little more in the second half and eventually found the back of the net.  Sophomore Sarah Day was the goal scorer for the Sabres with the goal serving as the first of her career.  The goal was only the second time this season that CUW had allowed a score in NACC play.

The Sabres finished with eight shots led by senior Charity Hertel who had three shots on goal.  Fellow senior Kylie Lange (1-3-0) posted double-digit saves for the first time this season making 16 stops.

Marian hits the road for the final time during the regular season traveling to Aurora Saturday, Oct. 16 for a noon kick-off.
