Box Score 2 ROCKFORD, Ill. - Marian University women's volleyball (15-14, 3-10 NACC) clinched a winning season for the first time since 2003 defeating North Central (Minn.) in four sets and sweeping Rockford.
The Sabres were out to a slow start to open the match but caught momentum late defeating the Rams 25-22, 24-26, 25-16, and 25-20. Sophomore Serina Pehowski continued her dominant weekend recording 13 kills with a .455 hitting percentage, while fellow sophomore Kaitlyn Merrill posted a match-high 15 kills. The back row for the Sabres was especially dominant with senior Brooklyn Taylor recording 17 digs to go with three service aces and sophomore Reagan Jasica added 16 digs.
Marian was then able to easily defeat Rockford to close out the season with set scores of 25-13, 25-13, and 26-24. Both sides dominated as the Marian offense hit .202 with 41 kills and the defense held the Regents to just a .020 hitting percentage. Merrill paced the Sabres once again posting a match-best 17 kills, while Taylor led the back row with 19 digs and another four service aces. Junior Andrea Miller nearly had a double-double with seven kills and 13 digs.
