Upset bid for Marian women's soccer falls just short at Dominican

Box Score

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University women's soccer (9-9-1, 8-6-0 NACC) was eliminated from the NACC Tournament after falling to Dominican by a 4-2 final.

The Stars were able to start fast against the Sabres scoring a pair of goals in the first 14:10 of the match.  Marian wouldn't go away easily, however, as junior Allison Fought found the back of the net at the 31:31 mark.  Fought then tied the game with just 2:32 left in the half with her third goal of the season, assist to junior Ashley Welk.

The second half had a similar start as the first, however, as Dominican was able to score a pair of goals in the first 7:03 of the second stanza.  The Star defense held off the Sabres the remainder of the match to set the final at 4-2.  It was the first time all season Dominican had allowed multiple goals in a single match.

Marian was outshot by the Stars 19-7 with three different student-atheltes recording a shot on goal.  Senior Kylie Lange (6-4-0) was able to make nine saves in goal for the Sabres.

This marked the fourth time in the past five seasons that Marian women's soccer competed in the NACC postseason.
