Box Score FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's hockey (1-2-0, 0-1-0 NCHA) trailed by just one goal in the third period but fell to No. 5 Adrian.
The Bulldogs were able to strike first at the 4:06 mark only to have the Sabres respond shortly after. Junior Jack Sampson was able to score his second goal of the season at the 11:26 mark with an assist to freshman Nick Cherkowski. Adrian scored just 2:06 later, however, to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
A quiet second period saw Adrian score just 1:37 into the period but it proved to be the lone goal of the period as the Bulldogs extended their lead to two. Quick scoring to open the period continued in the third when Cherkowski scored the first goal of his career 40 seconds into the final stanza, assist to Sampson. The one goal deficit only lasted 1:52 as a power-play tally put Adrian ahead 4-2. The Bulldogs would go on to score two more goals, one with an empty net, to set the final at 6-2.
Junior Colby Muise (1-2-0) had a strong performance in goal making 32 saves on 37 shots that he faced.
Marian closes out the series against the Bulldogs tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 13, with puck drop scheduled for 4:30 p.m. from Blue Line.
