FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's hockey (0-4-1, 0-2-0-1 NCHA) scored two goals in the final period to salvage a point in the series opener against CUW.

The opening period wouldn't settle anything as CUW jumped out to an early 12-11 advantage in shots.  The Falcons were then able to score the first two goals of the game with a pair of power-play tallies in the second period.  Despite CUW scoring twice, Marian managed to outshoot the Falcons 13-11 in the second period.

Just 3:36 into the third period and fresh off of a penalty kill, Marian was able to score their first goal of the season.  Freshman Jordan Usiondek was able to force a turnover in the neutral zone and scored unassisted from the right circle.  Sophomore Mackenzie Rosin then tied the game at the 13:51 mark, assist to fellow sophomore Brynn Weaver, with a goal in the high slot.

The Sabres opened overtime on a power play but were unable to score.  Marian outshot the Falcons 6-5 in the extra minutes but the game needed a shootout to decide a winner.  The Falcons were able to score on their first and third attempts while holding Marian scoreless to earn the extra point.

Sophomore Kayla Kolpitcke (0-4-1) had another strong outing making 39 saves.  The Sabres were outshot by a slim 41-38 margin and were paced by freshman Jadyn Gorski who had five shots on frame.

Marian travels to CUW for a 1 p.m. puck drop tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 20, to close out the NCHA series.
