MEQUON, Wis. - Marian University women's hockey (1-4-1, 1-2-0-1 NCHA) earned their first win of the season defeating Concordia Wisconsin 2-1 on the road.

Just like the opener of the series, neither team was able to find the back of the net after the first 20 minutes.  It was a defensive battle in the opening stanza with Marian outshooting the Falcons 7-5.  Sophomore Hannah Cunha broke the tie with a goal at the 8:45 mark of the second period with assists to the defensive pair of junior Kristen Bisschop and freshman Shelby Tryba.  This goal held up heading into the final period.

The Falcons scored their third power-play goal of the series to tie the game at the 4:24 mark at 1-1.  Freshman Jordan Usiondek was able to break the tie, however, at the 12:30 mark with an assist to freshman Jadyn Gorski. 

The Sabres were outshot by a slim 33-28 margin in the defeat with freshman Madeline Chimenti recording a team-best five shots.  Junior Rheanne Peigan had a strong performance in the faceoff circle winning eight of her 11 draws.

Sophomore Kayla Kolpitcke (1-4-1) earned the first win of her career making 32 saves.

Marian travels to St. Catherine for a 3 p.m. non-conference game Saturday, Nov. 27.
