Box Score FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's basketball (3-1, 0-0 NACC) made 22 three-pointers in a 102-67 non-conference victory over Beloit.
The Sabres jumped out early on the Buccaneers scoring 13 of the first 15 points of the game including the first eight points. Marian continued to push the tempo the entire half and led by 25, their widest margin of the opening stanza, at the break by a 53-28 tally. Marian would go 20-37 (.541) from the field with 12-19 (.632) shooting from beyond the arc.
Beloit responded to open the second half trimming the Marian lead to as small as 13. That 13-point Marian lead came at the 13:04 mark with the Sabres ahead 62-49. The hot shooting for the Sabres quickly returned, however, as Marian went on a 31-5 run to take a 93-54 lead with 6:20 left in the game. The end of the run saw the Sabres hit four consecutive three-pointers. Marian was able to cruise to the win the rest of the way with a three-pointer from freshman Andrew Case setting the final at 102-67.
Marian finished the game 38-70 (.543) from the field with a blistering 22-36 (.611) coming from three-point land. The Sabres were able to outscore the Buccaneers 23-3 in fastbreak points.
Senior David Britton went 10-14 (.714) from beyond the arc to finish the game with a game-high 30 points to go with seven assists. Sophomore Delvin Barnstable added 19 points, while junior Tyler Gouin chipped in 16 points. Junior Dylan Gmeiner and senior Scott Paulus each had seven rebounds.
Marian opens NACC play at Rockford Wednesday, Dec. 1 for a 7 p.m. tip.
