Box Score ANGOLA, Ind. - Marian University women's hockey (2-7-2, 1-3-0-2 NCHA) closed out their season series with Trine falling to the Thunder 2-1.
Marian was able to take the early lead when junior Brooke Anderson lit the lamp 9:08 into the opening period of action, assists to sophomore Hannah Cunha and junior Melodee Eastman. This advantage held up until the 17:30 mark of the second period when Trine was able to score their first goal of the game. The Thunder then scored the game-winner just 3:20 into the third period while on a power play.
Marian was outhshot by a 38-29 margin in the defeat with Anderson leading a trio of Sabres with four shots. Sophomore Kayla Kolpitcke (2-7-2) had another strong performance making 36 saves.
Marian opens the second half of the season taking on Concordia Wisconsin on the road in non-conference action Saturday, January 8 at 4 p.m.
