FOND DU LAC - A late goal forced overtime where Marian University women's hockey (2-4-2, 1-2-0-2 NCHA) fell to Trine in a shootout to open a two-game series.

The opening period saw the Thunder find the back of the net first at the 13:47 mark, but the Sabres would respond just 23 seconds later.  Freshman Jadyn Gorski lit the lamp for the Sabres with juniors Brooke Anderson and Lily Parmeter each earning an assist.

After a quiet second period, freshman Sydney Schipper gave Marian their first lead of the game at the 6:26 mark of the third period.  Sophomore Hannah Cunha and freshman Shelby Tryba each assisted the goal.  The Thunder were able to tie the game with just 18 seconds left in the game and force overtime with an extra-attacker goal. 

Marian was able to outshoot the Trine 4-1 in the extra period but went to their second shootout of the season.  Both goaltenders continued to play well with Trine scoring just one goal in the shootout to earn the extra point.

Marian was narrowly outshot in the game by a 33-32 margin with Gorski recording five shots.  Sophomore Kayla Kolpitcke (2-4-2) made 31 saves and held Trine scoreless on a pair of power-play chances.

Marian closes out the series with the Thunder tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 4, at 5 p.m. at home.
