APPLETON, Wis. - Marian University women's hockey (1-5-0, 1-2-0) earned their first victory of the season defeating Lawrence 6-2.

The Sabres outshot the Vikings 22-9 in the opening period but were unable to find the back of the net and fell behind 1-0.  Marian was able to get on the board at the 6:06 mark of the second period when freshman Jenna Grosdidier lit the lamp for the first time in her career with an assist to senior Mary Clark.  Grosdidier then scored her second goal 10 minutes later with an assist to sophomore Briahna Bryant.

Marian then had a strong showing in the final period where they scored four goals.  Freshman Hannah Cunha scored on the power play just 1:31 into the period for her fifth of the season, assists to sophomore McKenna Krosch and freshman Mackenzie Rosin, to open the scoring.  Grosdider then closed out a hat trick with a power-play goal just one minute later, assist to Clark. 

Freshman Bailey Williams scored her first-career goal at the 5:53 mark with assists to freshmen Aeryn Olson and Breanna Pfaff to bring the score to 5-1.  After a power-play tally from the Vikings, Rosin lit the lamp for her first-career goal, assist to Bryant, to set the final at 6-2.

The Sabres finished with a 53-29 advantage in shots and went 2-3 (.667) on the power play.  Senior Lindsay Lewison (1-3-0) earned the victory making 27 stops on the night.

Marian hosts Lawrence to close out the series tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 20, for a 5 p.m. puck drop.
