Box Score

APPLETON, Wis. - Marian University men's hockey (4-5-0, 3-1-0 NCHA) snapped a four-game losing skid with a 5-1 victory over Lawrence.

After a rough opener of the series, the Sabres dominated and found the back of the net 8:52 in when sophomore Zach Lawrence scored for the second time this year with an assist from junior Gianni Vitali.  This was the lone score of the period.

Freshman Mateo Albinati then opened the second period scoring at the 8:53 mark with a power-play tally, assists from juniors Parker Colley and Troy Ring.  Junior Blaine Caton then lit the lamp on the power play for his third goal of the season with assists to sophomore Jack Sampson and Vitali.  Marian made it a 4-0 lead when freshman Ty Mosimann scored a power-play goal for his third of the season, assist to Caton.  The Vikings were able to manage a power-play score to close out the second period and cut their deficit down to 4-1.

Sophomore Ty Enns iced the game, however, in the third period with his sixth goal coming just 1:43 into the stanza with an assist to junior Taylor Derynck.

The Sabres finished with a 51-18 advantage in shots managing 25 shots in the second period and 17 in the third.  Sophomore Colby Muise (3-2-0) earned the victory making 13 saves in goal.

To determine the Battle of Highway 41 traveling trophy the squads entered a five-round shootout.  Vitali and Enns each scored in the shootout, while sophomore Muise stood tall only allowing one goal to help the Sabres keep possession of the trophy.

Marian returns home to take on Trine Wednesday, Feb. 24 for a 5 p.m. puck drop in non-conference action.
