Box Score FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's hockey (0-3-0, 0-1-0 NCHA) dropped their first game of conference action 2-1 to Concordia Wisconsin.
Concordia Wisconsin was able to strike first at the 9:03 mark to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. This goal stood up for the rest of the period as CUW was able to outshoot the Sabres 12-6. The second period saw the Falcons control the puck for most of the period but the Sabres were able to open the scoring for the period at the 12:53 mark on the power play. Freshman Hannah Cunha continued her scoring barrage with her fourth goal of the season with assists to sophomore McKenna Krosch and freshman Mackenzie Rosin. Concordia Wisconsin answered at the 17:22 mark for what proved to be the game-winner. The Sabres also had a pair of shots hit the post in the period.
The third period was evenly matched as each team had six shots on goal, but neither goaltender allowed a single goal. Marian would hit the post once again in the final seconds to seal the 2-1 final.
Senior Lindsay Lewison (0-2-0) took the tough-luck defeated only allowing two goals with 36 saves on the night.
Marian travels to CUW to close out the series tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 6, for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
