Marian men's hockey sweeps past Finlandia with 6-2 win

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's hockey (3-1-0, 2-0-0 NCHA) had a dominating performance in a 6-2 win over Finlandia to secure a sweep of the Lions.

Freshman Ty Mosimann opened the scoring for the evening with his first-career goal at the 9:31 mark with assists to freshman Mateo Albinati and junior Nathan Walker.  Albinati then rang in his first-career goal while the Sabres were on a power play at the 16:42 mark with assists from sophomore Ty Enns and freshman Anthony Bilka.

Marian then had a fast start in the second when Bilka lit the lamp for the second time this season on a Marian power play with assists to junior Blaine Caton and Mosiman.  The Lions would respond with their first goal of the evening while on a 5-on-3 at the 10:08 mark only to have Marian respond with their third power-play tally.  Sophomore Blake Kleiner was the goal scorer at the 13:03 mark, his first on the year, while junior Gianni Vitali and Mosimann each assisted.  Enns then closed out the period with a goal, his third of the season, with just 34 seconds left on the clock with assists from sophomore Parker Colley and junior Troy Ring.

The Lions scored the opening goal of the third period to bring the game to 5-2 before Vitali scored his second of the season with assists to Bilka and Caton.

Marian finished with a 54-20 advantage in shots with 24 of their shots on goal coming in the final period.  In his first career start, freshman Aaron Brunn (1-0-0) made 18 saves to earn the victory.

Marian travels for a non-conference series at Adrian with the opener scheduled for Friday, Feb. 12 at 6:05 p.m. (CDT).
