Box Score RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University men's volleyball (7-1, 6-1 NACC) dropped their first match of the season falling to No. 7 Dominican with set scores of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-20.
The first set was all Stars as Marian was unable to slow down the offense of nationally ranked Dominican. Using their momentum from the first set, Dominican was able to pull away from the Sabres early, but Marian was able to build some momentum heading into the third.
The Sabres were able to jump out to an 8-4 lead to open the third set and the set eventually led to a 20-20 draw. Dominican was then able to secure the sweep, however, scoring the final five points unanswered.
Junior Jacob Jurney had a strong performance recording a match-high 11 kills on a .400 hitting percentage, while fellow junior Zach Zelenik recorded 20 assists.
Marian returns home to take on Rockford Friday, March 19 for a 7 p.m. first serve in NACC action.
