FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's hockey (11-7-0, 5-3-0 NCHA) scored all of their goals in the final period to defeat MSOE 3-1 and take the opener of the NCHA Harris Cup championship.

A weird bounce off the boards led to the first goal of the game as MSOE took a 1-0 lead 6:28 into the game.  This proved to be the only tally until the third period as the defenses dominated.  Junior Parker Colley was able to get the Sabres on the board 2:06 into the third period for his eighth goal of the season.  Just 2:33 later the Sabres were able to take their first lead of the game with a goal from freshman Mason Richey, his fourth of the season, with assists to fellow freshman Ty Mosimann and Colley.  Freshman Tanner Versluis was able to ice the game with just three seconds left scoring an empty-net goal with an assist to fellow freshman Mateo Albinati.

The Sabres were outshot in the game 43-27 but sophomore Colby Muise (10-4-0) stood on his head to earn the win between the pipes.  Muise finished with a career-high 42 saves stopping all 17 shots he saw in the third period.

Marian closes out the championship tomorrow, Saturday, March 20, with the puck scheduled to drop at 7:30 p.m.  Marian needs a win or tie to claim the Harris Cup, while MSOE will need a win to force a mini-game.
