Box Score MADISON, Wis. - Marian University women's soccer (1-2-0, 1-2-0 NACC) scored in the final seconds of double overtime to defeat Edgewood 2-1.
Marian outshot the Eagles 15-4 through the first 45 minutes but the Eagles were able to hold a 1-0 lead after a goal at the 32:04 mark. Freshman Lillian Giron was able to score off of a corner kick in the 52nd minute for the first goal of her career to tie the game.
The Sabre defense held Edgewood to just three shots in overtime, but it wasn't until the final six seconds of the second overtime when sophomore Ashley Welk buried a shot from the right side of the box for her first goal of the season to secure the win.
Marian finished with a 38-10 advantage in shots with senior Shannon Coughlin recording 11 of the Marian shots. Junior Kylie Lange (1-2-0) made five saves on six shots to earn the win in goal.
Marian plays their first home game of the season hosting Wisconsin Lutheran Wednesday, March 31 for a 4 p.m. kick-off.
