Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MILWAUKEE - Marian University women's volleyball (2-4, 2-4 NACC) swept MSOE in a pair of NACC matches to earn their first wins of the season.

The Sabres dominated to open the day taking the first match 25-18, 25-14, and 26-24.  A fast start to the day saw Marian jump ahead 7-2 and force an MSOE timeout.  The Sabres built their lead out to eight but the quick start allowed them to easily cruise to the first set win.  After an 11-11 start to set two, the Sabres then scored nine unanswered points to take a commanding lead and win the set.

Needing a win in the third, MSOE was able to take an 18-14 lead to open the set.  The Sabres then went on a 5-1 run, though to tie the set at 19-19.  A kill from senior Sara Komosa followed by an ace from freshman Kaitlyn Merrill then secured the first sweep of the day.

Marian had at least nine kills in each set and hit .158 for the match, while holding MSOE to a -.021 hitting percentage.  Sophomore Monica Dreifuerst had 17 kills and hit .262 to lead the offense, while junior Brooklyn Taylor had 13 digs.  At the net, Merrill recorded four assisted blocks to go with a pair of service aces.

The first set of match two was tight but the Sabres played better as the match went on to secure another sweep with scores of 29-27, 25-19, and 25-15.  Marian had 20 kills in the opening set and rallied to take the set after not converting six set-point opportunities.  The Sabre offense continued to dominate in the second hitting .481 with 15 kills in the set.  A 7-2 run in the middle of the set proved to be the difference.  The Sabres then held MSOE to a -.125 hitting percentage to easily cruise and win the third.

Dreifuerst had her fifth double-double of the season recording 17 kills to go with 12 digs.  Taylor added another 20 digs in the back row to lead the Sabre defense, while freshman Reagan Jasica also recorded 15 digs.  Freshman Anna Tapia finished with 36 assists to go with a pair of service aces.

Marian travels to Concordia Wisconsin Sunday, April 11 for a pair of matches to close out NACC play.
