FOND DU LAC - Marian University softball (16-14, 5-7 NACC) fell to Wisconsin Lutheran 3-0 in the opener but rallied for a 1-0 win to salvage a split.

The Sabres had an opportunity to score in the second inning with two runners in scoring position and only one out but Marian was held scoreless.  Then the Warriors were able to open the scoring in the top of the fifth with three runs.  Marian was unable to get a runner into scoring position the remainder of the game falling 3-0.

Sophomore Julia Corona accounted for two of the five Marian hits in the loss. Senior Paige Rauhut (7-8) tossed all 7.0 innings allowing just six hits with three punch outs.

Game two saw even less offense as pitching and defense continued to dominate.  The Sabres would put a runner into scoring position in the first as did the Warriors in the third.  Marian then stranded sophomore Kaley Ludvigsen in the fifth after she opened the inning with a double.

After the Warriors got the first two outs in the sixth, freshman Katelyn Matenaer kept the inning alive with a double down the right-field line.  Senior Katy Croeker then hit a clutch double to the right-center field gap to open the scoring.  Wisconsin Lutheran was able to put the tying run into scoring position but Marian was able to shut the door.

Ludvigsen and Croeker each had a pair of hits to account for four of the seven hits for the Sabres.  Sophomore Emalee Depa (8-3) continued to dominate in the circle going 6.1 innings allowing just four hits, while Rauhut earned her first save of the season for getting the final two outs.

Marian travels to Concordia Chicago for a non-conference twin bill Wednesday, April 21 for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
