Box Score RIPON, Wis. - Marian University women's soccer (4-5-0, 4-4-0 NACC) led late but fell to Ripon by a 4-3 final to close out the regular season.
Marian was on the board first when senior Shannon Coughlin scored just 7:32 into the game with an assist to sophomore Rosa Lezotte. The Red Hawks were able to tie the game at the 34:57 mark, but the tie didn't last long as freshman Peyton Witt scored her first collegiate goal just 5:02 later. Fellow freshman Taylor Perl assisted the goal as Marina went into the break with a 2-1 lead.
Freshman Lillian Giron opened the scoring in the second half with a goal at the 55:33 mark, her second of the season, with an assist to Coughlin. Then with just eight minutes left on the clock, Ripon would manage to score three goals to rally for a 4-3 win.
The Sabres held a slim 20-18 advantage in shots led by Coughlin who had seven shots. Sophomore Brianna Levine (1-1-0) made 11 saves on 15 shots in goal for Marian.
Marian opens the NACC Tournament Wednesday, April 21 on the road taking on either Concordia Wisconsin or MSOE.
