Box Score LOVES PARK, Ill. - Marian University men's soccer (3-4-0, 0-2-0 NACC) scored the only goal of the first half but fell to Rockford by a 2-1 final.
Each time fired 11 shots in the match but a pair of second-half goals lifted the Regents past the Sabres. Freshman Giuliano Corazzina opened the scoring for the game in the 15th minute when he scored his sixth goal of the season with an assist to fellow freshman Drew Cowden, his sixth helper of the year.
Rockford responded in the second stanza scoring in the 56th and 71st minute, however, to take a 2-1 advantage. The Sabres were able to create several chances in the final minutes but were unable to find an equalizer.
Senior Kevin Cervantes (3-3-0) was able to make four saves in the defeat, while three student-athletes finished with multiple shots.
Marian returns home to take on St. Norbert Wednesday, Sept. 22 for a 7 p.m. kick-off.
