Sabre men's soccer falls at home against Benedictine

Box Score

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's soccer (3-6, 0-4 NACC) is still in search of their first NACC win this season falling 5-1 at home against Benedictine.

The Sabres were unable to slow down a fast start from the Eagles in the opening half as Benedictine quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead.  The Sabres were able to bounce back to open the second half and narrowly missed an opportunity to score when freshman Giuliano Corazzina hit the crossbar.  This helped provide momentum, however, as a minute later senior Kevin Cervantes sent a deep free-kick towards sophomore Max Kauffman who went far post for his sixth goal of the year.

Benedictine quickly rebuilt their lead scoring just 26 seconds later and in the 67th minute to set the final at 5-1.

Sophomore Chase Hayden recorded three shots to lead the Sabre offense, while Cervantes finished with five saves on eight shots.

Marian hits the road for a 7 p.m. match at MSOE Wednesday, Sept. 29.
