Box Score

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University women's basketball (4-10, 2-6 NACC) was able to earn a road defeating Concordia Chicago 67-62.

The opening quarter was an offensive struggle for both teams with Marian taking a 10-7 lead after the first 10 minutes of action.  The Cougars were able to take a 24-21 lead with 4:21 left in the second before Marian closed out the stanza with a 9-2 run to go ahead 30-26 headed into the break.

After back-to-back layups from senior Paris Harris to open the second half Marian found themselves ahead 34-26.  The Sabres were able to lead throughout the quarter but four unanswered points from the Cougars to end the quarter trimmed the Marian lead to 48-45.  Concordia Chicago used this momentum to take their first lead of the second half at 53-52 with 6:42 left to play.

Marian had a response, however, as the Sabres scored eight unanswered points to build a seven-point lead.  Concordia Chicago chipped away at their deficit eventually tying the game at 62-62 with 49 ticks left, but the Sabres held the Cougars scoreless down the stretch and hit five free throws to earn the 67-62 road win.
