Box Score MEQUON, Wis. - All five starters scored double-digit points as Marian University men's basketball (8-5, 4-4 NACC) defeated Concordia Wisconsin 90-72.
The first half was extremely competitive as neither team could manage a lead larger than six points. A three-pointer from senior David Britton closed out the stanza and tied the game at 39-39 heading into the break.
The back-and-forth action continued out to a 49-48 Marian lead with 16:35 left to play. The Sabres then went on an 11-2 run to take a 60-50 advantage and force a Falcon timeout. CUW managed to cut the Marian lead down to four before another an 14-4 spurt from Marian gave the Sabres a 74-63 lead with 5:50 on the clock. This run proved to be enough as Marian only built upon that lead in the final minutes leading to a 90-72 victory.
Marian shot 19-of-33 (.576) in the second half and went 7-of-15 (.467) from beyond the arc. The Sabres were also able to force 16 CUW turnovers which resulted in 16 points.
Britton produced his first double-double as a Sabre scoring 25 points to go with 11 assists. Sophomore Delvin Barnstable once again filled out the stat sheet scoring 16 points with eight boards, three assists, and two blocks.
Marian returns home to open a stretch where the Sabres will play four of their next five games at home against Lakeland Wednesday, January 19 at 7 p.m.
