MILWAUKEE - Senior
Amy Birner has been selected as the NACC Defensive Player of the Week, as selected by the athletic communication professionals of the league.
Birner (Waukesha, Wis.) had a busy week in goal leading Marian to a four-point week. Birner stood on her head in the first match-up of the week as Marian handed Dominican its first NACC loss of the season. She posted her second shutout of the season in the 1-0 victory stopping all four shots she faced. Then against Concordia Chicago, Birner had a busy day making eight saves to lead Marian to a 1-1 tie against the Cougars. Birner has allowed multiple goals in only two of her nine starts this season.
