MILWAUKEE - Marian University women's volleyball (7-20, 4-6 NACC) defeated MSOE 25-23, 21-25, 25-20, and 25-11 to open a three-match road trip.
MSOE opened the match with a slim 10-9 lead only to have the Sabres score eight unanswered points to build a 17-16 lead. The Raiders battled back to retake the lead at 22-21 but Marian was able to rebound and score three straight and take the lead for good.
After a second set that saw MSOE bounce back to even the sets, Marian dominated the end of the third set and the entire fourth set. The third set opened with a 19-19 draw but Marian outscored MSOE 6-1 the rest of the way to take a 2-1 lead. The Sabres opened the fourth set with a 7-6 lead and closed out the match wtih an 18-5 spurt. The Marian offense had 13 kills without committing a single error for a .565 hitting percentage.
The Marian offense had double-digit kills in every set and had nine service aces. Senior Pehowski recorded 16 kills off of a .600 hitting percentage to go with a solo block and five block assists to lead Marian. Sophomore
Riley Shores had another strong performance with 11 kills, while junior
Reagan Jasica had a match-high 29 digs.
Marian travels to Lakeland Friday, October 21 for a 7 p.m. first serve.
