Connor Powers to beat Grinnell 3-2.
The Sabres were able to get out to a fast start scoring just 8:15 into the match when senior
Max Kauffman scored with a header for his fourth goal of the season. The goal came off of a corner kick from junior
Logan Holevas. This 1-0 advantage held into the break with Marian outshooting the Pioneers 9-5 in the opening stanza.
Another fast start to the second half saw junior
Giuliano Corazzina score his 14th goal of the season 5:03 in with an assist to junior
Matt Williamson. The Pioneers were able to get two quick goals separated by just 1:28 to tie the game with 17:05 left to play.
The second corner-kick goal for the Sabres gave Marian the lead for good when Holevas fed a ball to Powers with just 6:25 left to play. The goal was the first score for Powers at Marian.
Marian finished with an 18-14 edge in shots with Kauffman recording a team-high four shots. Senior
Aaron Perez made five saves in the start, and sophomoreÂ
Joey Sommerfeld was able to earn the first win of his career in relief.
Marian closes out the regular season hosting Edgewood Wednesday, Oct. 26 for a 7 p.m. start. With a win, the Sabres would clinch a home match in the NACC Tournament for the first time since 2004.
